Jimbo Fisher will have one very big advantage when it comes to recruiting the next 12 months.

Fisher can tell recruits nobody sent more players to the NFL than he did this year, with a school record 11 Seminoles being drafted.

The number equals the number of FSU players taken in the previous four drafts combined and is the second most by any school since the draft was set at seven rounds in 1994, behind the 14 players selected from Ohio State in 2004. Miami (2001) and Southern Cal (2006, 2009) also had 11 players drafted.

Florida State’s previous record was 10 players picked in 1995.

FSU set another school record when five were taken in the top 42 picks. QB EJ Manual (Buffalo), DE Bjoern Werner (Colts) and CB Xavier Rhodes (Vikings) were first round picks and DE Cornellius Carradine (49ers) and OT Menelik Watson (Raiders) were grabbed early in the second round.

Since coming to FSU Fisher has groomed two starting quarterbacks, both have been taken in the top half of the first round. Christian Ponder was 12th overall by the Vikings two years ago.

The Seminoles run continued on the third day when RB Chris Thompson and DE Brandon Jenkins were scooped up by the Redskins in the fifth round; K Dustin Hopkins (Buffalo), LB Nick Moody (49ers) and LB Vince Williams went in the sixth; and DT Everett Dawkins (Vikings) was taken in the seventh round.

Three of those: Carradine, Thompson and Jenkins suffered season ending injuries during the 2012 season.

LSU and Alabama each had nine players selected.
